Dear IFC People,
I am writing this to inform you that as of noon Friday, April 25th, 2003 I am officially giving up my duties as Vice President of the Illinois Fencers Club, which I have unofficially had for five years. Don't take it personally. It's not you. It's me. Between my regular job, teaching fencing classes, giving lessons and even taking time for my own training, I don't seem to have any time to just plain enjoy life.
So, I suggest that the officers and members of the IFC hold a meeting and either elect / volunteer / force someone to take my place, or simply divide up the duties that I have now.
My duties as I see them, and the ones I will keep, are as follows:
Please keep in mind that we have more than enough skills and talent in our club, in both fencing and business, to make a great club. All we have to do is step up and volunteer to do it.
If you are curious, this is not a sudden decision on my part. I've been looking to get rid of a lot of my duties for two years. But these last few months have forced a decision on my part.
As a closing note, I need to point out something. The IFC is a Fencing Club. Emphasis on Club. Members should not think that their $120 a year entitles them to just fence and split. Members have to give as well as get. We are a club, not a business organization. Ask yourself what you would expect to pay if we were a business. Not $120 a year, I assure you.
Coach Ina (who I previously informed of my decision) has graciously volunteered her home for the next IFC officers meeting. I hope that some of you will take my note to heart, attend and volunteer.
Respectfully,
Don Badowski
