The Illinois Fencers Club is
offering a Fencing Class for Children,
ages 7 to 12, with no prior fencing experience. Participants will learn the basics of
footwork and blade work. Fencers will become familiar with the fencing
rules and strategies. Students begin their classes with warm-up exercises
and stretches and then move on to footwork drills. They will be
introduced to bouting after learning how to use the proper fencing
equipment. Expect many games, surprises and lots of fun!
Two private lessons are included.
- Ina Harizanova will be
the instructor for this class.
- All necessary equipment (masks, gloves, weapons and jackets) is provided for your use by
the club. Wear loose fitting clothing: t-shirt,
sweatpants and sneakers. It is also recommended that students bring a towel
and sports drink.
- Foil Fencing will be the concentration. Demonstrations of the epee
and sabre will be included.
- There will be six group lessons with the instructor focusing on
bladework.
- This class
is limited to ten students. Program is open to children with no
previous experience.
- In order to
participate, registration fees must be paid on the first day of class
to the instructor.
