IFC Results at the 2010 Burton Open at Northwestern University

Two IFC fencers met in the finals of the Mixed Epee event at the Burton Open October 2, 2010 to decide 1st and 2nd place. Maciek Zmyslowski defeated Michael Slater 15-12 to take 1st of 43 fencers. Zmyslowski, a graduate of the IFC competitive epee class, is now attending Northwestern. Slater, a new member moving here recently from the San Francisco Bay area, placed 3rd in Division II Men's Epee at the 2010 Summer Nationals in Atlanta . Other IFC epeeists in the top eight were Misha Heber 5th and Carl Lyday 8th. IFC might have done even better if the DE table had not matched Slater against three other IFC fencers: Gabe Weininger 26th, David Zeko 12th. Other IFC fencers in this event were Rene Castellanos 37th and Dick Dunlop 42nd.

Len Grazian, winning all his pool bouts, placed 3rd out of 61 in the Mixed Foil event. Other IFC fencers in this event were Tony Coonrod 20th, Adam Barbanell 27th, David Zeko 20th, and Nicole Mitchell 38th.

Auset Muhammed, the only IFC member to fence in the Women’s foil event, finished 10th out of 25.
